Turkey has signed a deal to upgrade the air defenses of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Tadjikistan, and Uzbekhistan to NATO standards. The US and Britain are partially funding the deal. Turkey is trying to extend its influence into Central Asia to counter the influence of Iran.--Stephen V Cole
