Boeing is using advanced production techniques in a campaign to bring the cost of the F-18E Super Hornet down to $40 million per copy within five years. This would boost not only its export potential (the cheaper F16C60 is pushing Super Hornet out of the market) and allow it to compete
head-to-head with Eurofighter Typhoon, but it could lock up a multi-year deal with the US Navy.--Stephen V Cole
