The first five "instrumented production" Eurofighter Typhoons are expected to enter final assembly this fall. The first deliveries to air forces are set for 2002. The builders are convinced that the 40 months needed to produce the first batch will be cut to 18 months per batch in future once the supply chain is set up.--Stephen V Cole
