CKEM (the Compact Kinetic Energy Missile) is to be a new Army missile program that will have no warhead, but will accelerate a long-rod penetrator to Mach-6.5 and use pure kinetic energy to defeat tanks and aircraft. The original goals for the missile are no more than 4 feet long, no heavier than 50 pounds, and able to destroy targets from 400m to 5km away. Eventually, the Army wants to push the range to 8km.
