Israel has started series production of the Merkava-IV tank. Israel insists that this is the most advanced tank in the world. The Merkava-IV will mount an improved version of the 120mm smoothbore cannon in the Merkava-III, but the IV has space to mount the larger 140mm gun that Israel wants to develop.--Stephen V Cole
