Poland has completed its testing of three wheeled armored personnel carriers (the Swiss Piranha-IIIC, the Austrian Pandur-II, and the Finnish Armored Modular Vehicle) and will announce a winner in December. The Poles plan to buy an initial batch of 120 8x8 APCs with 25mm or 30mm guns, plus 100 similar vehicles for special roles. Later, a further order will be placed for 280 APCs and about 150 variants. Poland expects to assemble the vehicles locally and to produce more for export sales.--Stephen V Cole
