The Indian Navy has ordered five Ka-31 Helix-B airborne early warning helicopters from Russia for $108 million. These will be delivered in 2002. (An earlier order for four of these helicopters cost $92 million. These will be delivered late this year.) The rotating radar antenna can detect aircraft at 150km and surface ships at 250km.--Stephen V Cole
