France has selected Thales to provide it with a new intelligence gathering ship, which will replace the Bougainville (France's only intelligence ship) in 2005. This is the first time France has contracted with a foreign shipyard for a military ship. The hull will be built in the Netherlands and fitted out in France.--Stephen V Cole
