Last year, Taiwan got visited three times by the Chinese Ocean Survey ship "Xiang yang hong No. 14." This is a spy ship, and it likes to sneak in during stormy weather. During an October visit, it entered Taiwanese territorial waters and had to be chased out by a coast guard ship. The Chinese ship appears to be about 3400 tons and carriers a lot of electronic monitoring gear. Sometimes, the spy ship is seen in the vicinity of Chinese warships, no doubt trying to get some action from Taiwanese electronic equipment so that "Xiang yang hong No. 14" can capture the transmissions for later study.
