The U.S. Department of Defense has forbidden the use of wireless computer (LAN) networks until the military has come up with an encryption system they feel will make the use of such technology safe from hostile espionage. The moratorium has actually been in place since July 30, 2001, but has not been publicized a lot. The wireless networks, line any other nets, depend on their administrators for their security. The government has long had a problem getting enough technical people to maintain their networks. System administers (sysadmins) are in great demand and non-government jobs pay more and you don't have to deal with as many clueless bosses.
