Information Warfare: Study Arabic, French, Spanish or Chinese to Get Promoted

Archives

February 24, 2006: The U.S. Department of Defense is encouraging troops to study Arabic, French, Spanish or Chinese. These are the languages that, it is believed, will be most useful in future combat or peacekeeping situations. French and Spanish are common second languages in Africa, and even parts of Asia. In addition to making it easier for troops to get instruction in these languages, the various services are providing enhanced career opportunities for those who demonstrate proficiency in these languages. In other works, if you want to get promoted faster, learn (or already know) Arabic, French, Spanish or Chinese.
