After studying the 17 April incident in which a US F-16 dropped a bomb on Canadian troops, the Air Force investigation has called for:
@ recording systems on AWACS planes (and in coalition air operations centers) to record the conversations of the controllers and pilots, to prevent arguments later over who said what and when.
@ copies of the radar records from AWACS planes should be made available for post-mission debriefings.
@ ground force officers should be assigned to Air Expeditionary Wings to provide a better understanding of what is happening on the ground.
@ more training with live weapons, including all types of weapons in use instead of just those that are easiest to train with.--Stephen V Cole
