Poland's deputy minister of the National Defence Ministry, Janusz Zemke, said on 1 March that in the next 12 months his country would supply India with 250 Fire Control Systems "Drawa T" worth $ 72 million (with an option for future supplies) and 80 WZT 3 Armored Recovery Vehicles worth $75 million. There were also talks in progress about 1000-hp engines for India's T-72 tanks. Upon his return from a trip to India and Indonesia, Zemke told a press conference that Polish companies won the contract in the face of competition from Italian and French firms.

Poland would also earn several million dollars by selling parachutes and radars for Indian Special Purpose Forces units, as well as by carrying out overhauls of Iskra training aircraft and supplying their spare parts. - Adam Geibel
