Faced with limited budgets, the US Navy is planning to delay some new shipbuilding projects. The DD21 Land Attack Destroyer will be delayed several years; the first ship was to be in service by 2008. The fourth LDP-17 amphibious warfare ship will be delayed from FY04 to FY06. The New Attack Submarine program will also be delayed, with the first ship delayed from FY03 to a later time. --Stephen V Cole
