Sweden will send the guided missile corvettes Stockholm and Malmo into the Kockums shipyard for mid-life upgrades costing a total of $270 million. This will replace the gas turbines and gears, install a new command & control system, reduce radar signature, and make the ships better suited to international deployment. Sweden will spend $75 million installing Stirling Mk3 air independent propulsion systems on the diesel submarines Sodermanland and Ostergotland.--Stephen V Cole
