Gulfport, Miss. (Sept. 9, 2005) National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) aerial image of the damage done to the Marine Life Aquarium in Gulfport, Miss., by Hurricane Katrina, which generated a wave so large that it washed out several bottlenose dolphins into the Gulf of Mexico. The dolphins have been located and are gradually being rescued and moved to in a temporary saltwater pool facility at the Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport. These aboveground pools have the necessary filtration and equipment needed to care for sea mammals, and have been set-up by U.S. Navy marine Mammal Program personnel from San Diego, Calif.
