Overnight air raids on Kabul hit a UN building, killing four security guards. Its not known if this was the result of an error in aim or selection of targets. The UN has protested. The second day of air strikes were delivered by two B-2 bombers flying from Missouri, three B-1B bombers from the island of Diego Garcia (4,000 kilometers to the south of Afghanistan) and ten fighter-bombers flying off carriers off the coast of Pakistan as well as 15 cruise missiles launched from warships in the Indian ocean.
