In southern Afghanistan, thirty people were arrested after three newly repaired schools were burned down. Many of the local pro-Taliban men are against the government's plan to allow girls to go to school. 

In western Afghanistan, Tajik and Pushtun warlords. Six people have died and at least 20 were wounded. Local Pushtuns resent Tajik warlord Ismail Khan being the governor of the province and accuse his Tajik gunmen of abusing local Pushtuns.
