Pressure from the US has forced Pakistani's ISI (similar to the CIA and FBI) to halt aid to and cooperation with Islamic conservative groups (particularly the Taliban and al Qaeda) in Afghanistan. This will be hard to do, as ISI is full of people who are Islamic conservatives or radicals. The ISI still believes that Islamic conservatives may regain control of Afghanistan. Some ISI members believe Pakistan would be better off under more strict Islamic rule.
