In the western city of Herat, following a shoot out between local police, and troops from eastern Afghanistan, that left at least three dead, supporters of local strongman Ismail Khan demonstrated for his reinstatement as governor. Khan had many supporters, as he shared much of the money he stole from the local and national government.
