Two weeks have passed since the Islamic radical group GSPC promised a terror offensive in Algeria's cites. Nothing has happened, confirming the general belief that the GSPC no longer has the manpower to operate on a wide scale. The Islamic radicals have lost broad popularity, or fear, they once had with the general population. This means that someone will usually turn in any Islamic radicals who show up in a populated area. This is a major disadvantage for an underground movement. The GSPC tried to force local populations to be loyal by killing entire families of those suspected of informing on them. But this backfired after several years, and now the Islamic radical groups are more despised than feared.
