Algeria: Islamic Terrorists Keep Running

Archives

September 11, 2005: The new government in Mauritania has continued it's opposition to Algerian Islamic terrorists. The new government declared a pardon for many criminals, to celebrate their coming to power, but excluded members of the GSPC (the Islamic radical organization behind most of the terrorism in Algeria.) GSPC members have been fleeing army and police operations along Algeria's densely populated coastal areas, and moving to the desert areas down south. This has brought the GSPC to Mauritania, and caused Mauritania to reject the Islamic radicals.

September 8, 2005: In eastern Algeria, Islamic terrorists attacked village guards, killing three and wounding in four. In western Algeria, police arrested eight men who had been providing support for Islamic terrorists.
