October 9, 2005: The government believes there are still about a thousand Islamic terrorists active, but only a few hundred are armed and dangerous. While the new amnesty got an overwhelming "yes" vote, many Algerians are uneasy about letting so many terrorists, who killed so many thousands of civilians, off the hook. Some of the terrorists don't believe they will be able to walk, if they surrender and confess their sins. So the war on terror sputters on.

October 5, 2005: An explosion in eastern Algeria killed two and wounded three. It's not certain if the cause was terrorism, accident or criminals.

October 2, 2005: A group of Islamic terrorists, rejecting the amnesty, killed three civilians.

September 30, 2005: The voting on the "Charter for Peace and National Reconciliation" yesterday was approved by 97 percent of the population. But the main remaining Islamic terrorist group, the GSPC, has rejected it.

September 29, 2005: Some Islamic terrorists are accepting the amnesty, with a group of ten surrendering.
