Angolan UNITA rebels threatened to attack Luanda. In a letter to the MPLA, Joseph Savimbi, UNITA's leader, said "This time UNITA may reach Futungo (the presidential palace) before Angolan armed forces reach Andulo." Andulo is a city controlled by UNITA, located in southeastern Angola. Rebels killed 7 people in ambushes in Angola's Lunda-Sul province.
