UN and African sources report that around 400,000 Angolan war refugees now living in Zambia and the DRC want to return home to Angola. The UN says there are 210,000 Angolan refugees in Zambia and around 190,000 in the DRC. The UN report said that the refugees may start returning as early as May 2003. Resettlement is expensive and also dangerous. Unexploded land mines and ordnance still litter many of the villages and farm lands.
