Macedonia has agreed to the establishment of an autonomous Albanian district, in order to obtain popular support from the Albanian minority, and reduce support for Albanian nationalists. The armed Albanians calling for "Greater Albania" are still out there. But much of the muscle for this call to gather all Albanian occupied into one large "Greater Albania" (stretching from southern Serbia to northern Greece and east to parts of Macedonia, as well as Albania and Kosovo) came from criminal gangs, which are now distracted with their criminal activities.
