China's ministry of water resources had reported that the current drought is only a rough spot on a bad road. The current water shortage, causing a 8% drop in the wheat crop, is only going to get worse due to overpopulation and over development. By 2010 the annual shortage will be 32 billion cubic meters, increasing to 50 billion cubic meters by 2030. The shortages will directly impact the planned goals for further development and modernization.--Stephen V Cole
