The Taiwanese government revealed that a Chinese spy ship fled when it was confronted by Taiwanese warships on October 10th. The same Chinese vessel had traveled the same route (southeast of Taiwan) last May. Such spy missions test the ability of the Taiwanese to detect intrusions of what could be warships. In the October case, a fishing boat first spotted the Chinese ship and alerted the Taiwanese navy.
