A truck bomb went off in the northeast, killing one and wounding six. It was estimated that the truck carried about 650 pounds of explosives. Local police believe FARC was responsible.

The president of Venezuelan, as well as the commander of the  armed forces, said they would use troops to keep FARC out of his country. It is thought that this is just talk, because local government and military officials in the Colombia border area have tolerated rebel camps for years. The Colombians bring business opportunities and bribes to the border area as well. However, the public willingness of the government to keep Colombian rebels out does make it easier for police and troops from both countries to cooperate against Colombian rebels.
