Apparently some of the true revolutionaries in FARC want to open a new front, against Ecuador. This is being resisted by the mainstream leadership, who are as much interested in the lucrative drug trade activities, and even by some of the hard-line rebels, who fear it will dissipate resources unnecessarily. This indicates the likelihood of a purge in the FARC, or even a mini-civil war.
