Fighting between the armed forces and FARC rebels continues to intensify. As troops and police increasingly threaten rebel bases, the death toll goes up. The rebels are also suffering defections, as many of their member quit because of not being paid, or simply because of the increased danger of getting killed or arrested and imprisoned.
