India arrested four Indian men outside an Indian airbase near Calcutta and accused the men of spying for Pakistan. In Kashmir, Pakistani and Indian troops exchanged fire across the Line of Control, leaving four Pakistani civilians dead and many more wounded. In Pakistan, some 2000 Pakistani volunteer fighters who entered Afghanistan are reported as missing. Many are known to be dead, but others may be captured or making their way back to Pakistan. The volunteers were dismayed with the Taliban in Afghanistan, seeing them as not as religious as they should be.
