Fire across the Line of Control left a Pakistani civilian dead. Kashmiri rebels say they have sufficient supplies and money to continue their fight inside Kashmir despite the crack down inside Pakistan by the government.

In Pakistan, kidnapper Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh said that the American journalist his group held was dead. Yesterday, Sheikh said the American was alive. Sheikh admits his guilt, but will not say much else.

An Indian Moslem gang leader, Aftab Ansari, extradited from Dubai, admitted to Indian police that he had funded Pakistani kidnapper (of an American reporter) Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. Ansari gave  the British born Sheikh $100,000. Ansari's rackets included kidnapping, and working with terrorist organizations. The gangs and terrorist organizations have long cooperated on criminal activities.
