In eastern Pakistan, police fought Sunni militants and killed four of them. One of the dead militants had a price on his head for earlier crimes. The group the men belonged to, Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, is believed to have links to al Qaeda. 

In Kashmir, rebel violence left six rebels and a civilian dead.
