The Hindu Times reported on 16 July that high-ranking army and government officials claimed the Indian army had withdrawn three strike divisions from the Pakistan frontier, thereby reducing its border war readiness as militant infiltrations declined. The Army supposedly withdrew the strike division (each of which contains about 6,000 soldiers) a week prior. The Army quickly asserted there was no change in deployment of Indian troops' positioning along the Indo-Pak border. - Adam Geibel
