Artillery fire across the Line of Control left an Indian civilian dead. 

In Kashmir, rebel violence left ten dead. 

A UN study found that the most common causes of untimely death in the region were tuberculosis, AIDS and violence. Some 53 percent of the violence deaths were suicide, another 25 percent were murders with the rest being from wars. The statistics were collected from 317,000 deaths recorded in India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Burma, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
