Pakistan is pressuring the US to provide it with one or more AWACS air control aircraft to match the Israeli Phalcon AWACS India is buying from Israel. If the US provides the AWACS, there will probably be demands that more help be provided in the war against Islamic radicals. 

Pakistan continues its crackdown on religious schools (madrassas), mainly by forcing them to register and provide instruction on secular, not just religious, subjects. The scrutiny has also caused most of the foreign students to leave.
