India has increased military operations in Kashmir, running more patrols and raids against suspected rebels and their bases in urban areas and remote locations. The deaths from the Kashmir fighting are still some 5-10 a day, but the rebels seem to be losing ground because of more effective sensors on the Line of Control and more aggressive Indian police action inside Kashmir.
