  India is setting up a special anti-terrorism police unit to deal with the increasingly aggressive Maoist rebels in northern and eastern India. The government is trying to negotiate with the Maoists, but there are extremist factions that would rather fight. In Jharkhand, a Maoist land mine killed four policemen.

Pakistan successfully tested another Hatf 4 missile. With a range of 700 kilometers, this would be one of the chief means of delivering nuclear weapons to Indian targets, once Pakistan figures out how to make nuclear warheads small, and light enough to fit into the Hatf 4 warhead.
