A large bomb went off in front of the Philippine ambassador's residence as the ambassador was leaving in his car. The blast killed two and injured 21, including the ambassador. MILF rebels from the Philippines were suspected. The MILF immediately denied any involvement. Given the high level of Moslem militancy in Indonesia, the bombers could have been sympathetic Indonesian Moslems.
