In West Timor, about a thousand anti-independence (for East Timor) militiamen rampaged through refugee camps searching for UN air workers. Several were injured and three were killed. Over 50 UN personnel escaped. The government expressed regret and sent two more battalions of infantry to the area. The UN is evacuating all it's staff from the West Timor refugee camps. The militiamen continue to cross the border and skirmish with peacekeepers in East Timor. In Irian Jaya, one civilian was wounded when police battled separatists who were trying to raise their flag.
