The police and army have formed a joint counter-terrorism force. The new unit will combine intelligence information, and experienced investigators from the army and police. The government sees this latest terrorist attack as an attack on the economy and stability of the entire country. Foreign companies are becoming reluctant to invest in Indonesia, mainly because the government appears incapable of dealing with Jemaah Islamiah.
