One cause of continuing unrest is the ongoing battle against corruption. The former dictator, Suharto, is incapacitated by strokes, but his large family is being prosecuted for stealing up to $35 billion from the government. The Suharto family, and their friends, still have most of that money, and are using it (via lawyers, bribes and supporting political groups) to defend themselves. This is a major cause of unrest.
