Students in the capital cancelled some upcoming demonstrations because the religious conservatives have backed off on executing Hashem Aghajari and are staging an annual festival for their Basij militia in the capital. Student leaders fear that emotions are so high, mixing a lot of Basij and student demonstrations in the capital could trigger the civil war most Iranians want to avoid (but may not be able to for much longer.)
