Opinion survey of Iranians aged 14-29 showed that half were dissatisfied with the operation of the government and did not approve of Islamic fundamentalists. While 80 percent approve of reformist president Khatami, nearly half do not oppose the Islamic fundamentalists, and many of those support the fundamentalists. This split has prevented a civil war, as the evenly matched factions indicate a long, hard fight with an uncertain outcome.
