British and US warplanes  are bombing Iraqi artillery, in addition to anti-aircraft units. It was long thought that the warplanes flying over the no-fly zones would begin attacking all manner of military targets as a prelude to an all out air offensive. Warplanes coming into the Persian Gulf have been taking turns flying patrols over the no-fly zone, getting used to the conditions they would face in a war.
