: India may be willing to offer troops for `stabilization duties' in Iraq, but there were several mitigating factors. Dissenting Indian opinions point out that they are more comfortable having a UN mandate as peacekeepers and will feel safer working under the baby blue UN beret, rather than going in under US command. Even those Indians that are in favor of the Iraq mission want their role to be administrators, rather than occupiers. Furthermore, there is some resentment that troops from the "Third World" are viewed as America's 'clean up crew', called upon for pacification duties when their countries don't clearly benefit from these operations. - Adam Geibel
