The US is speeding up the selection and training of Iraqi security forces (especially police and security guards.) These armed Iraqis have proved very successful in reducing the crime rate, and the activities of pro-Saddam fighters. Moreover, the coalition has gotten more effective at selection and training, and have a lot more proven trainers available each month.
