The army continues to destroy Palestinian homes and government buildings that have been used by Palestinian gunmen to fire on Israelis. Most of the targets have been Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory. Destroyed buildings have included Palestinian police stations. Farm buildings and crops (olive groves and orchards) along roads have also been destroyed to deny gunmen hiding places. The army is also considering legalizing the armed settler patrols that have often clashed with Palestinians. There is fear that the settlers will establish their own militias and such legalization will encourage them.
