The UN wants Syria to have its troops completely out of Lebanon by mid-May, right after the Lebanese parliamentary elections. The Syrians are not promising anything, and are apparently hoping enough pro-Syrian members of parliament will be elected to allow Syria to keep some of its troops in Lebanon. For the moment, Syrian troops have pulled back to the Syrian border. Meanwhile, a car bomb went off in a Christian area of Beirut, Lebanon, wounding eleven people. This is believed to be more mischief by pro-Syrian elements.
